Welcome to Alterna Drive. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, mobile applications, and student transportation services (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
To use our Services, you must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal authority to enter into these Terms. If you are registering on behalf of a school district, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
2. Our Services
Alterna Drive provides student transportation coordination services, including:
Ride Coordination
Scheduling, dispatching, and managing student pickups and drop-offs between homes and schools.
Real-Time Tracking
GPS-based ride tracking so guardians can monitor their child's transit in real time.
District Integration
Working with school districts to meet transportation requirements, including IEP and special needs accommodations.
Alerts & Notifications
Proactive communication about ride status, delays, schedule changes, and safety updates.
3. Booking & Cancellations
Ride requests are subject to availability and may be confirmed or adjusted based on route optimization and driver capacity. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate all requests.
Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance when possible. Repeated last-minute cancellations or no-shows may result in service adjustments. Specific cancellation policies for school district contracts are outlined in the applicable service agreement.
4. Safety & Conduct
Safety is our highest priority. All drivers undergo comprehensive background checks, vehicle inspections, and ongoing safety training. We maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation safety regulations.
Users agree to:

5. Fees & Payment
Service fees vary based on the type of arrangement (individual family or school district contract). Pricing details will be provided before you confirm your service enrollment.
For individual users, payment is due according to the billing schedule agreed upon at enrollment. For school district partners, billing terms are governed by the applicable service agreement.
We reserve the right to adjust pricing with reasonable advance notice. Outstanding balances may result in service suspension until payment is resolved.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on our website and applications, including text, graphics, logos, icons, images, software, and the Alterna Drive brand identity, is our property or the property of our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written consent.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alterna Drive shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our Services, including but not limited to delays, route changes, or service interruptions caused by factors beyond our reasonable control (such as weather, traffic, or road conditions).
Our total liability for any claim arising from the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim within the preceding twelve (12) months.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alterna Drive, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, misuse of the Services, or provision of inaccurate information.
9. Service Modifications & Termination
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our Services at any time with reasonable notice. We may also terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to other users, drivers, students, or our operations.
Upon termination, your right to use the Services will cease immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitations of liability and indemnification) will remain in effect.
10. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Services shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached within thirty (30) days, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by law. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for the protection of intellectual property rights or confidential information.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which Alterna Drive's principal office is located, without regard to conflict of law principles.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the revised Terms on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
